PDP’s Ayu to challenge suspension – aide

Embattled PDP leader, Iyorchia Ayu, has reportedly resolved to challenge his suspension from office. A report said that Ayu’s aide, Simon Imobo-tswam, confirmed it in his response to an enquiry.

Some PDP members from Ayu’s ward in Benue state had recently suspended him for allegedly taking part in anti-party activities among other things. A Benue state high court would subsequently give a restraining order that barred him from identifying as the party’s national chairperson.

In the wake of the court ruling, the PDP announced Ayu had stepped aside for a replacement, Umar Damagum– the party’s deputy national chairman (north).

Damagun, after taking office, said Ayu’s removal was the PDP’s move to “fulfil all righteousness.”

He said, “We have a court order restraining our national chairman and we are law-abiding. I will be here with you in an acting capacity pending the determination of the court.”
