PDP governorship aspirant finally fulfils singer Davido’s wish

An aspirant for the Osun state governorship on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dele Adeleke has finally done his cousin, singer Davido’s wish.

Davido (David Adeleke) had accused his cousin of betrayal due to his initial insistence to contest the party ticket with his older cousin Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Dele Adeleke, Akin Ogunbiyi, and Fatai Akinbade pulled out ahead the party primaries scheduled to hold on Tuesday.

Adeleke said he pulled out of the race, since the party had harmonized its structures, declaring that “we can jointly prosecute the primary election and win. “

Ogunbiyi attributed his withdrawal to alleged bias by the PDP national chairman Iyorchia Ayu.

“It is a very difficult decision for me because of the amount of investment and the hope that my personality and leadership would have given to Osun State.

“But when you have an umpire who is so bias to the extent of planning with the other group, what can you do?

“Senator Ayu has agreed to work with Ademola Adeleke and I am being told that I shouldn’t waste my money and we did everything possible. I can only come to the conclusion to withdraw from the race,” he said.

On his part, Akinbade said party elders pressured him into withdrawing from the race, while naming Dotun Babayemi as his preferred aspirant.

Meanwhile, a faction of the PDP Elders’ Caucus, said they have endorsed Babayemi.

Wale Ojo, factional chairman of the elders caucus, said, they took the decision after “a painstaking deliberation of the elders of the party.”
