‘PDP, AGPA reasons for chief judges summons’
Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammed decided to summon six chief judges due to conflicting judgements given in the political disputes involving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All People Grand Alliance (APGA), according to reports.
Justice Muhammed said, in his invite to the judges, that “It has become expedient for me to invite you (chief judges of states) for a detailed briefing on the development.
“This is even more compelling having regard to earlier NJC warning to judicial officers on the need to be circumspect in granting ex parte applications.”
Justice Muhammed is reportedly angry over development as he believes it should be stopped before the 2023 general elections.
Courts of coordinate jurisdictions in Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa and Imo have given opposing rulings – all based on ex parte motions.
The latest of such are the ruling removing and reinstating the embattled PDP chairman Uche Secondus.
