Okowa expresses hope for reconciliation with aggrieved PDP leaders

Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta state and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says he is hopeful of a reconciliation with aggrieved party chieftains ahead of next year’s general elections.

“Make no mistake, the PDP is one family. This is is why I am optimistic that in the near future, we will reconcile and consolidate all our key leaders and stakeholders ahead of the 2023 General Election,” Okowa said this after meeting with three other governors. They are Governors Douye Diri of Bayelsa; Godwin Obaseki, (Edo); and Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom).

According to Okowa, the meeting centered on “issues of urgent national interest.” One of the key issues that came up was the fact that all the Governors in attendance are fully aligned with the PDP’s mission to #RecoverNigeria for all Nigerians,” he posted on social media.

The PDP has faced an internal crisis as five governors belonging to the party insist the party’s national chairman, Iyorchia Ayu resigns from his position.

The aggrieved are Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Samuel Ortom of Benue.
