NYSC member escapes death as man gets killed
A member of the National Youth Service Corps, (NYSC), has escaped death, after unknown men shot at the vehicle in which he was traveling.
Persons suspected to be criminals shot the vehicle, killing the other man, who is believed to be a member of the scheme.
The attackers’ vehicle reportedly overtook the victim’s car, before one of the occupants shot at them.
Eyewitnesses said the incident happened along Jabi Airport Road, in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
“There were two corps members in the car; one of them was in uniform. They overtook a car; the car later overtook them and someone shot at them.
“We don’t know what happened, but we just heard a gunshot.
“The bullet penetrated through their windshield and hit his colleague in the forehead. He died immediately.
Major General Shuaibu Ibrahim, NYSC director-general confirmed the incident, but failed to identify the deceased as a member of the scheme.
“The person driving the car was shot, but nothing happened to our corps member who was with him,” he was quoted to have said.
However, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, said she was unaware of the incident.
