A churchgoer has attempted to set a church ablaze during a prayer session. TheCornet gathered that the said woman, while members were praying, doused some chairs set around the church altar with a liquid believed to be petrol and ignited a fire.

The church would have gone completely aflame but for the alertness of church officials monitoring the Closed Circuit Television installed on the premises.

They quickly informed the security team, who swiftly moved in on the felon. A report states that the security team promptly extinguished the fire, thereby stopping it from spreading and causing major damage. The woman was arrested.

The incident took place at the Alpha Hour church, run by Pastor Elvis Agyemang. Reacting to the incident, Agyemang announced the indefinite suspension of all physical prayer meetings at the auditorium.

How much hatred can you have? How much hatred would make you put fuel, petrol, sprinkle it in a church and set it on fire?, the pastor, Agyemang asked rhetorically.

He adds, “She came as though she was praying in the auditorium”

“This will not stop us. We will fix the place, and prayers will continue,” Pastor Agyemang vowed.
