By Adeola Atanda

Nigerian leader, President Bola Tinubu has empathized with renowned novelist and writer Chimamanda Adichie over the loss of her child. In his commiserative message, the President recalls the death of his own child in time past to show his understanding of Chimamanda’s grief.

“With a deep sense of grief, I condole with Ms Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, her husband, Dr Ivara Esege, and the entire family on the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi,” President Tinubu writes.

“As a parent myself who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child. I empathise with the family at this difficult time, and I mourn this sad loss with them.”

Tinubu prays Chimamanda’s “family find strength in the Almighty in this trying hour.”

Chimamanda had announced the death of her 21-month old child on Thursday.
