Simon Ekpa’s sentencing, victory for Nigeria – FG

The Nigerian Government has praised the sentencing of Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa in Finland.
Reacting to Ekpa’s sentencing, Mohammed Idris, minister of Information and National Orientation, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “We welcome the news of Simon Ekpa’s conviction by a Finnish court for terrorism-related crimes and his sentencing to six years in prison. A major victory for the Nigerian people in the collective fight against terror.”
Cornet News had reported that the Päijät-Häme District Court, in Finland, convicted Ekpa of terrorism and involving in the activities of a terrorist group. Ekpa is a chieftain of the outlawed militant separatist movement, IPOB, and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network.
The court averred that Ekpa used his social media networks to incite people to involve in terrorism and had funneled armed and ammunition to the group through his criminal networks in the southeast region.
