People struggling with disabilities get N250k handout each
As the world marks the Day for Persons With Disability on December 3, Nigeria’s first lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu has empowered 250 of such people in Ekiti State, southwest Nigeria.
Represented at the event by the state governor Abiodun Oyebanji’s wife, Olayemi, Tinubu offered the beneficiaries ₦50,000,000 each as “economic empowerment grant” and ₦200,000 each “to strengthen their businesses and promote financial independence.”
The event held under the auspices of the Renewed Hope Initiative for PWDs would now hold annually, the first lady had announced.
According to a government statement, the “initiative reinforces the Federal Government’s commitment to inclusion, equity, and improved livelihoods for all Nigerians, especially vulnerable groups.”
It adds, “RHI remains dedicated to driving empowerment and creating opportunities across the nation.” President Bola Tinubu had campaigned on the political mantra that his administration would bring hope to Nigerians after years of unsatisfactory political governance, hence his Renewed Hope Initiative.
