AFCON: What 2 Moroccans Women Did To Nigerians After Nigeria-Tunisia Match

By Folarin Ademosu

A Nigerian photojournalist Sulaimon Adebayo, better known as Pooja, has recounted his and two other journalists’ experience after the Nigerian Super Eagles drubbed Tunisia to advance to the Round of 16 knockout stage, last night, at the ongoing African Nations Cup (AFCON) tournament.

Adebayo said that he and his colleagues became stranded and unable to get to their hotel rooms after the pulsating Saturday night game. Both the taxi-hailing services and local Moroccan cab drivers had closed for night, he said.

“We’ve waited for over 30 minutes outside the stadium”, Adebayo detailed on X (formerly twitter), ” he stated. Uncertain about their next moves, Adebayo said , “two Moroccans” suddenly appeared to them.

“A sports car (driven by the women) stopped in front of us”. The woman had joined in the celebratory mood that grips the street after a football match. However, this was more than that for the Nigerian journalists. But before they could figure out the intentions of the Arabian women in the posh automobile, the women made a surprising gesture.

“The ladies asked where we were headed, put it on Google Maps, and took us to our apartment (3 journalists),” he said.

TheCornet reports that the 2025 AFCON, also known as the TotalEnergies 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, is the 35th edition of the biennial soccer tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
