My life at 70 – Veteran actor ‘Oga Bello’

Veteran Yoruba actor, Adebayo Salami, popularly called Oga Bello, has shared his thought on clocking 70 years. In his Instagram post, Salami said, “At 70, life makes more meaning to me through the blessings of family and endearing legacies of my career. Alhamdulillah for the grace of this day.”

The prolific thespian, Salami, began acting in 1964 after joining the ‘Young Concert Party’. The late theatre practitioner Ojo Ladipo, popularly known as Baba Mero, headed the troupe.

The troupe name changed a few years later to Ojo Ladipo Theatre Group and, later to, Awada Kerikeri Theatre Group.

Salami took over as the leader of the group in 1978, after Ojo’s demise. The veteran actor, whose two of his sons are also into film acting, has featured in numerous movies.

Celebrating his father, his actor son Femi Adebayo said: “My dear dad, today you are 70. I wish you happiness with good health and long life. You have been an amazing best friend, confidant, paddy, gist partner, in short, my everything.

“I pray that your joy will never know any boundaries. May God bless you with long life to continue to enjoy the fruit of your labour and may God continue to guide and guard you.
