Melaye, Sani mock APC over convention delay

Dino Melaye and Shehu Sani, both former senators, have mocked the All Progressives Congress over its decision to delay its convention indefinitely.

TheCornet reports that the APC had initially scheduled its convention to hold on February 26. However, the party, in a change of plan, wrote to

the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, stating it would rather conduct zonal congresses on March 26.

Reacting to the development, Melaye in a tweet on Monday called the continued stay of Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni as national caretaker chairman of the party an “illegality”.

“Jamb Question: When did the NEC of APC approved (sic) the extension of the life span of Mai Buni as Caretaker Chairman? We are watching illegality romancing illegality,” he tweeted.

On his part, Sani likened the APC convention to a ” horizon” that appears far from the reach of its members.

“The ruling party’s convention is like the Horizon;the closer you come to it,the farther it moves,” he also tweeted.
