Many Lagos-bound travellers burn to death

More than a dozen Lagos-bound travellers have burnt to death in a motor accident that took place along the Abuja-Lokoja Highway early Tuesday morning.

The inferno was due to the impact of the collision between an 18-seater Toyota Hiace passenger bus, with registration number GME 20 XA, and a Daf trailer, marked BAU 632 XA.

A witness to the incident, Kabiru Garba, is quoted in a report as saying that 17 people lost their lives while four survived but with burns.

The survivors have been taken to Abaji General Hospital for treatment.

Garba reportedly said that the speeding bus rammed into the trailer, resulting in a blaze.

The ill-fated commuter bus had left Gombe for Lagos.
