Man arrested for importing liquified cocaine

A man has been arrested after he was found to possess liquified cocaine at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.

According to anti-narcotics agents, the suspect Okeke Adolphus Anayochukw, 52, claimed someone had handed him the illicit drug in Brazil.

He also said he was to be paid N2 million for couriering the 20.75kg black liquified cocaine, which was packaged as makeup mascara to avoid being detected.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA said the never-seen-before cocaine was kept in 32 polythene  bags labeled as women’s makeup.

“Okeke was arrested upon his arrival at the Abuja airport onboard Qatar Airways flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Doha, Qatar to Abuja. The liquid was discovered upon search of his two luggages stuffed with six smaller bags containing 32-makeup mascara, which tested positive to cocaine,” NDLEA said in a statement signed by Femi Babafemi.

The suspect hails from Orafitti in Anambra State and has four children.

The agency said it made similar arrests and seized various drugs.

The trio of Tony Samson, Paul Adamu, and Reuben Waziri were arrested in Kaduna, on Friday 18th March, with 18,380 tablets of Tramadol, and 12,500 tablets of Diazepam and Exol-5 tablets.

In Anambra, NDLEA said it intercepted a bus with reg. No AGU 460 ZW, at Obosi bridge heading to Aba, Abia state from Onitsha.

“Upon search, seven and half jumbo sacks of cannabis weighing 362kg were recovered while the driver, Ifeanyi Anyamele admitted to be the owner of the drug exhibits.”

Also, in Ogun state, narcotics officers reportedly seized 865.2kg of cannabis sativa around Otapele- Obada road in Imeko-Afon LGA.

“The consignment was brought in from Benin Republic on motorbikes for onward transportation to Lagos and Abeokuta.”
