Lynch mob burns two to death in Lagos

Two suspected thieves were burnt to death in the Igando area of Lagos state, the police have said.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the state police command, tweeted about the incident on Saturday.

The two suspects (male) reportedly robbed a Point of Sale (PoS) operator, resulting in their grisly deaths.

“Two men allegedly robbed a POS attendant. A mob descended on them and set them ablaze”, said Hundeyin, adding the blaze reduced the suspects to unrecognisable carcasses.

It was unclear whether the police arrested anyone for the heinous act. Hundeyin said that the mob reportedly fled the scene before the police arrived.

He said the incident is being investigated.
