LP plans showdown with Apapa at Kano Court

Labour Party in a statement has accused its factional chairman, Lamidi Apapa, of clandestinely filing a suit before a Kano state high court.

In a release signed by Obiora Ifoh, its acting National publicity secretary, LP claimed that Apapa, its suspended national legal adviser, and one Samuel Akingbade Oyelekan had asked the court to invalidate all the elections it won across the states of the federation. It claimed the litigants’ grouse was that the party “didn’t submit register of voters to INEC.”

The party said that the court would rule on the matter on Thursday.

LP said, “Though, the party will appear before the court on Thursday to set aside the proceedings, but we have earlier raised the alarm of the plots by the opposition parties to ensure that Labour Party is reduced to the rubbles.”

The party also alleged Akingbade wrote letters to tribunals to withdraw election petitions before them.

“We are using this medium to alert the judiciary and all law enforcement agencies, particularly, the police, DSS to note that Samuel Akingbade, Lamidi Apapa, Abayomi Arabambi and everyone in that camp have ceased to be representing Labour Party in whatever capacity.
