Lagos will not forget you, Oba Akiolu tells Tinubu

The Oba of Lagos, HRM Riliwan Akiolu, on Sunday praised the president-elect Bola Tinubu when he paid him a courtesy visit at his Iga Idugaran palace on the Lagos Island.

It was Tinubu’s first visit to the state since his declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the February 25 presidential race.

The monarch, a staunch supporter of the former Lagos governor (Tinubu), expressed his delight over his electoral victory.

Akiolu said Tinubu was “destined for leadership at the very top.”

He said, “Asiwaju, Lagos will not forget you. You did all your best to serve Lagos and you served excellently. I know you have enemies; all our ancestors had too. So, were all the prophets.

“Some are even enemies of God that created us. But, I know that our forefathers will fight your battles. God will grant you victory and Nigeria will be great under you.”

Basking in the euphoria of his electoral win, Tinubu likened the certificate of return INEC issued him, and which he also presented to Oba Akiolu, to a World Cup trophy.

In Tinubu’s entourage to the palace were the governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former deputy governor of the state, Otunba Femi Pedro; a former commissioner for the environment, Muiz Banire; former minister Musiliu Obanikoro, among others.
