Katsina police speak on mosque abduction, rescue

The Katsina Police Command has confirmed the abduction of 19 Muslims kidnapped from a mosque on Saturday night and the rescue of six of the victims.

Gambo Isah, the spokesperson for the command, said kidnappers attacked the mosque, located at Maigamji in Funtua Local Government Area of the state, and seized the worshippers who were observing Issaih prayer.

“They shot and injured the Imam and one other person. Those people are currently responding to treatment in the hospital,” Isah, a superintendent of police, said.

He added that the police and men of the vigilante “rescued two of the victims that night”, while four other victims were rescued on Sunday”.

TheCornet gathered the assailants reportedly equally shot a worshipper during the attack.
