INEC, security agencies altered results to give APC victory – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies colluded to confer victory on the All Progressives Congress (APC) governor candidate Senator Monday Okpebholo in the just concluded September 21 poll.

The INEC had declared Okpebholo the winner of the poll with 291, 667 votes, defeating the PDP’s candidate Asue Ighodalo who garnered 247, 655 votes.

PDP’s national publicity secretary,  Debo Ologunagba, in a statement, said the party believes that its candidate won the election, based on the vote tallies reported by its polling agents on the field.

The party also absolved Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who had hastily announced the results collated from the party’s agents, of blame.

“As Governor Fintiri presented, the results collated from the Polling Units have Asue Ighodalo in a clear lead before the state collation exercise was hijacked by the APC, which, in connivance of some unscrupulous INEC and security officials, engaged in blatant alteration and substitution of the genuine results with fabricated figures in favour of the defeated APC candidate,” the PDP stated.
