INEC denies excluding Igbo, others from serving as ad-hoc staff for Lagos guber poll

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos state has denied excluding persons of Igbo extraction and those from the South-south region from working as ad-hoc staff for the forthcoming governorship and house of assembly elections.

In a statement, Mrs. Tadase Adenike, INEC’s head, voter education and publicity, said the body intends to retain its ad-hoc staff that are Igbo for the forthcoming polls.

The body also rebutted allegations that its resident commissioner, Olusegun Agbaje, had telephone conversations with incumbent governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and some ‘Obidients’ on ways to compromise the election.

It challenged anyone with contrary facts to make such public.

INEC described the allegations are “orchestrated stories” intended to “impugn” the body and “taint” Agbaje’s “reputation”.
