Imo police station bombed

Two policemen have died from the early Saturday morning attack on Umuguma Divisional Police Headquarters in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, southeast Nigeria.

The slain policemen were constables fleeing the attack.

The Cornet gathered that the gunmen upon their arrival blocked adjoining roads to the police headquarters before throwing improvised explosive devices into the place, thereby setting the building and vehicles parked on the premises on fire.

While policemen tried to escape the inferno, the criminals, who took positions outside, began to shoot at them.

The police authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
