Peter Obi bigger than Kwankwaso – Okupe

Peter Obi dwarfs his fellow presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso, says Doyin Okupe.

Okupe is Obi’s proxy of a running mate and he has been leading his campaigns too.

In his interview with Channels television, Okupe avowed “Kwankwaso has nothing in his background that convinces anybody that he can match Peter Obi.” He adds that Obi’s superiority over Kwankwaso should be “a matter of capability” and not “a matter of seniority”.

Okupe, apparently, was miffed by Kwankwaso’s claim that northerners would not vote Obi when he earlier appeared on the same television programme. He averred that the merger talks between Kwankwaso and Obi had collapsed several weeks ago. Okupe says he believes Kwankwaso, who is of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, is besotted with the alliance for personal reasons.

“That discussion or those discussions about merger, alliance and all that was led by me from our side. It is dead. D-E-A-D! Dead and buried! Finished,” Mr Okupe declared Tuesday evening on Channels TV.

“It has been dead for four weeks,” the LP vice presidential placeholder added.

“It was NNPP that continued to try to benefit from the traction of the popularity of Obi,” said Mr Okupe.

Okupe said Mr Kwankwaso was electorally restrained to Kano state and may be making misinformed judgements about the entire northern region of the nation.

He further dispelled notions that Mr Kwankwaso being a two-term former governor of Kano and a Senator has more political experience than Mr Obi, hence cannot take the LP vice president slot.
