Fire kills mother, son, 20 others

A fire has killed a  mother and her son in Kano state. Emergency responders said arrived the burning five-bedroom bungalow after receiving a distress call and pulled out the victims.

Saminu Abdullahi, spokesperson for the state fire service, said the victims were “unconscious” when they were pulled out of the blaze.

He said they were and handed to one Inspector Shehu Lawan of Kwali Police Station who rushed them to the Murtala Hospital, Kano, where they were pronounced dead arrival.

In another incident, 20 persons died from an inferno that occurred at the Sheka area, also in Kano. The fire reportedly scorched the victims beyond recognition.
