I killed my neighbor because he called me a thief – suspect

A murder suspect, Idowu Talabi, has revealed he killed his neighbor to stop him from constantly accusing him of stealing.

The incident happened at No.4 Best Way, in the Moro area of Ikenne, Ogun State.

Talabi reportedly confessed to the police after his arrest and interrogation on the murder of the deceased, Isau Oluwatobiloba, 30.

The deceased’s wife had returned from a church vigil to find her husband lying lifelessly on the bed, with machete cuts on his body.

The woman decided to lodge a report with the police at the Ikenne Police Divisional headquarters. Since the unknown assailants did not take any of the deceased’s belongings, the police said they narrowed their probe down to Oluwatobiloba’s neighbours.

“After a thorough investigation, Idowu Talabi, who claimed to be a native doctor, confessed to killing the deceased for accusing him of stealing”, the police said. In addition, police said they recovered the machete Talabi used in killing his victim.
