Ghana arrests Abia state’s ‘Kings’, others on suspicion of attempted robbery

Ghanaian authorities have detained three Nigerians from Abia state on suspicion of  attempted robbery. The suspects are Kingsley Enyinnaya, aka “Kings”; Daniel Obasi Innocent; and Sonny Iroh.

The Police said that they found weapons, such as knives and machetes hidden under the suspects’ clothing, when they stopped them for a search.

The suspects reportedly did not offer any justification for carrying the weapons, which fuelled the law enforcement’s suspicion of a sinister motive.

Giving an insight into the case, the police said that the trio ordered a Bolt ride from their Lakeside Estate residence that was to take them to a friend’s house.

The friend, Kalu, a Nigerian too, is said to operate a restaurant in the tiny African country. The police said they suspected that the suspects intended to rob the Bolt driver of his vehicle.

The police subsequently arraigned the suspects before a magistrate’s court on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery.

The trial magistrate, Evelyn Asamoah, ordered that the suspects be remanded in police custody pending their reappearance on March 8.
