Four Ogun kidnappers arrested

Four suspected kidnappers have been apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command. They are Ismaila Ibrahim, 21; Musa Muhammed, 26; Irekura Abu, 43; and Okanlawon Muhammed, 26.

The suspects are being accused of carrying out kidnappings at Soyooye and Ibara Orile area of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

According to Abímbola Oyeyemi, a superintendent of police and spokesperson for the command, the arrest of Irukura Abu , who was the group’s armourer, led to the apprehension of his accomplices.

The police said it arrested a second suspect, Musa Muhammed, as he was coming out of their hideout to buy food for kidnapped victims and its colleague kidnappers.

“After thorough investigation ( of Abu and Muhammed), the police said they  “confessed to being members of a kidnap gang who are responsible for the abduction of one Bishop Oladimeji Joshua of prayer city, Keesan Abeokuta on the 22nd of September 2022.”

“They also informed the police that they were responsible for the kidnap of one Kafayat Jelili of Ogo titun area of Ibara orile on the 27th of September 2022,” said the statement by Oyeyemi.

The arrest led the police to nabbing Ismaila Ibrahim and Okanlawon Muhammed, while “two double barrel guns and one single barrel long gun” were recovered from them. The police revealed ongoing manhunt for other members of the kidnapping group.
