Four members of outlawed IPOB killed

The Nigerian Army says it killed four members of the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) and its military wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The incident reportedly took place at the Nigerian Army at Ihiala town in Anambra.

Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director, Army Public Relations, said in a statement on Thursday.

According to reports, the IPOB men were shooting randomly in their bid to enforce the sit-at-home order the separatist organization imposed on the state.

Nwachukwu said one motorcycle, two pump action double-barrel guns, 12 live cartridges and substances suspected to be cannabis were recovered from them.

In another development, the army spokesperson said an officer and a soldier died in a road accident during the operation.
