A fracas at the palace of Akirun of Ikirun, in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, led to the shooting of five persons including a prince, a report has said.
Members of rival ruling houses are opposed to the appointment of Yinusa Akadiri as the town’s traditional ruler.
The disagreement came to a denouement as a team of security operatives led Akadiri to the palace, in his bid to assume the throne.
The resistance by partisan locals, including those alleged to have been shot, engendered Wednesday’s pandemonium in the sleepy rural town.
There has not been any official reaction from both the state government and the state police command to the incident.
