TheCornet could not ascertain the names of the five governors.

Other persons also touted to have an eye on the coveted office are former Nigeria Vice President Abubakar Atiku and former President of Senate Bukola Saraki.

Saraki was equally governor of Kwara State, in north-central zone from 2003-2011.

Although, the leading opposition party is yet to say from which part of the country its presidential candidate will emerge. There is ongoing agitation that the PDP should zone its presidential ticket south.

Nigeria, since 1999, has rotated her presidency between southern and northern regions. Current President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), hails from Katsina State, in northwestern zone of the country.
