Kano arrests Ganduje’s ally over corruption allegation

The Kano Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has arrested Idris Saleh, who served as commissioner for works and infrastructure in the immediate past administration, led by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

DailyTrust reports that the anti-corruption commission arrested Saleh along with five others over their alleged involvement in a N1 billion fraud.

TheCornet gathered that the N1 billion was meant for rehabilitation of 30 roads and drainages in Kano city.

It is claimed however that Saleh and his co-accused failed to execute the contract after collecting the money, withdrawn in three portions and paid into three companies’ accounts on April 23.

Muhuyi Magaji, chairman of the Kano anti-corruption agency, had said earlier they would open a probe into Ganduje’s activities in office.

The former governor was first tainted with corrupt practices while in office when a video surfaced in October 2018 which showed him stuffing dollar bale into his babaringa attire. Ganduje would later fire the anti-corruption commission’s head under shadowy circumstances.

The new Governor Abba Yussuf, restored Magaji to his position after he took over office.

Magaji said they would investigate the video.
