FG, aviation workers resolve dispute

Aviation workers have shelved their planned strike scheduled to begin on Monday.

The workers and the federal government agreed to address lingering disputes.

They have asked government implement the Minimum Wage consequential adjustment in the aviation parastatals since 2019. The workers also want the government to approve the reviewed conditions of service.

Chris Ngige, the Minister for Labour and Productivity, said the Ministry of Aviation would issue a circular for implementation of “the National Minimum Wage consequential adjustment without any further delay”

He added that workers would be paid their entitlements from April 18, 2019, when the Minimum Wage was signed into law.

The minister exempted workers whose salary structures are not captured in the memorandum of settlement previously signed.
