Fayose says ‘more serious turbulence’ to hit PDP

Ayodele Fayose, a former governor of Ekiti state, says a “more serious turbulence” would hit his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Fayose, along with some other party leaders, is opposed to the continued stay of the national chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu.

“I see more serious turbulence for PDP more than ever before.I have been silent all this while hoping that things will get better.

“I advise we do more than we are doing now to resolve this crisis as events in days/weeks ahead may likely get messier.I pray this advice is not ignored,” he tweeted on Sunday.

TheCornet reports that the PDP has been embroiled in a crisis following the emergence of Abubakar Atiku as its presidential candidate. Those opposed, including Fayose, are demanding that Ayu resign as national chairman.

They are asking Ayu, being a northerner like Atiku, should step down for a southerner in the spirit of equity and fairness.

Others so aggrieved by Ayu’s stay include Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike; Governor Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Seyi Makinde (Oyo); Samuel Ortom, (Benue); and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Ebonyi).
