Ex-AGF Ahmed Idris lands in prison over N109bn fraud

Ahmed Idris, the suspended Accountant-General of the Federation being accused of diverting N109.4 billion of public funds has been remanded in prison.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arraigned Idris before Justice A.O. Adeyemi Ajayi on Friday.

He is facing a 14-count charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and money laundering.

According to one of the charges, Idris received gratification from one Olusegun Akindele, worth N15.1 billion, in exchange for accelerating the payment of 13% derivation to the nine oil-producing states in the federation.
