#EndBadGovernance protesters land in prison
A Federal High Court in Abuja, headed by Justice Emeka Nwite, has issued an order of remand on 10 #EndBadGovernance protesters. Nine male protester are to be kept in Kuje Correctional Center, while the lone female is remanded in Suleja.
They are Michael Adaramoye also known as Lenin, Adeyemi Abayomi, Suleiman Yakubu, Opaoluwa Simon, and Angel Innocent.
Others are Buhari Lawal, Mosiu Sadiq, Bashir Bello, Nuradeen Khamis, and Abdulsalam Zubairu.
According to the Nigerian Government, the defendants had intended to destabilise the country, conspired to commit felony, and incited citizens to mutiny.
The prosecutors said the offences are punishable under Section 97 of the Penal Code. In addition, the prosecution claimed that the ten defendants had planned to levy war against the state, in order to intimidate President Bola Tinubu. They are also accused of attacking and injuring police officers and burning police stations, government buildings and private buildings.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The court will reconvene on September 11 begin trial and consider bail applications for the protesters.
