Emefiele to personally supervise banks’ cash disbursement – CBN

Godwin Emefiele, the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), will lead his teams to supervise banks to ensure effective circulation of cash to depositors. The CBN also directed commercial banks to open on weekends.

This is according to a statement released by the Bank’s acting director, corporate communication department, Dr. Isa AbdulMumin.

He confirmed in his release that “substantial amount of money, in various denominations, had been received by the commercial banks for onward circulation to their customers.”

He equally said, “The  CBN had directed all banks to load their Automated Teller Machines (ATMs), as well as conduct physical operations in the banking halls through the weekends. ”

The CBN “urges Nigerians to be patient as the current situation would ease soon with the injection of more banknotes into circulation.”
