Easter: 49 Christians on way to pilgrimage perish
Two separate motor accidents have claimed 59 lives in Zimbabwe.
The first accident involving a bus and a haulage truck led to the deaths of 45 Christians, who were on their way to a religious pilgrimage.
The casualties, including infants and adolescent children, were members of the Zion Christian Church pilgrimage. The church is located in South Africa.
At least, 106 persons were on the overloaded bus before the fatal accident.
The bus while travelling at night suddenly developed faulty brakes before it plunged into a steep at the Bulawayo-Victoria Falls..
According to Herald, the National Police have released 34 names among the casualties.
Paul Nyathi, the spokesperson for the police, said rescuers have recovered four more bodies, comprising two male infants, a male juvenile, and a female juvenile.
In a related development, four members of the Apostolic Church reportedly died in an accident that occurred on Easter Friday. Aside the dead, 14 other church members were injured. The Christian faithful were on their way to a church service.
