Details of Dokpesi’s detention, release in London revealed

Raymond Dokpesi, politician and media mogul, has been released after being delayed at the Heathrow Airport in London. Dokpesi’s media organisation – the Africa Independent Television (AIT) – said this in a statement it released.

The British authorities had stopped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) grandee at the airport but the AIT management said it was only for a brief period.

“Dokpesi arrived via Frankfurt from Abuja on a Lufthansa airlines flight and was invited off the plane before other passengers were disembarked,” the management of the television station said in a statement on Monday.

“Dokpesi was delayed at the airport for some hours before his passport was stamped and he was cleared by British Immigration officials for entry into the country.”

The statement added that Dokpesi was on his way to honour an invitation by PDP presidential candidate Abubakar Atiku in London. Paul Ibe, Atiku’s media aide, had tweeted the British Government invited Atiku for an engagement slated to hold on January 10th and 11th.
