Death toll in Abia cattle attack rises to eight

A midnight attack, on Tuesday, on the new cattle market at Omumauzor community, in Ukwa West local government area of Abia State, has left eight people dead.

The identities of the attackers or the reason for their action are still unknown.

Abia State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikamnayo said security agencies have been mobilised to the scene.

He also said the government would relocate the traders and compensate them for their losses.

“On Tuesday, 15th February, 2022 at about 11:35pm, some yet to be identified hoodlums allegedly invaded traders at the New Cattle Market located in Omumauzor, Ukwa West Local Government Area of our Dear State, ” said the statement by Chikamnayo.
