Davido spars with Sanwo-Olu’s aide, backs comment calling appointees ‘slaves’
The nail-biting governorship race between PDP’s Asue Ighadalo and Senator Monday Okpebholo has seen an interesting incident occur between famous singer David Adeleke and Jubril Gawat, who is an aide of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The singer, who in a string of tweets on X (formerly twitter) initially claimed his preferred candidate Ighadalo was leading in the poll, suddenly got cynical. Tagging INEC to his outburst, Davido said, “The most dangerous institution in Nigeria.”
Gawat, in response, tweeted: “This tweet only means one thing.” His comment obviously got under Davido’s skin as the FEM singer retorted in Pidgin. “U go Dey here Dey tweet nonsense but any time I’m around ur principal nah u go first carry phone with flash like okirika Dey blind person eye.”
Davido also reposted a post calling political appointees ‘slaves’. The election appears too close to call, but supporters of both candidates have individually declared victory.
There has been recriminations between the leading political parties, as the PDP alleges the APC is mounting pressure on electoral umpires to suspend collation of results.
