Woman arrested on her way to supply ammunition to terrorists
Fatima Salisu, from Funtua, Katsina State, has been arrested for gun-running.
According to the Nasarawa State Police Command, the 21-year-old suspect was intercepted in Lafia Nasarawa on her way to supply ammunition to some terrorists.
Spokesperson for the police command Ramhan Nansel said her arrest was based on “credible intelligence” given to the police.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence tip-off, Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima J. Mohammed, ordered the immediate deployment of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit,” Nansel said.
Recovered from her are 400 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition and 81 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition.
The suspect is undergoing interrogation, the police said.
Nasel described Fatima’s arrest “as a significant step in the ongoing fight against illegal arms proliferation and crime in the region.”
He urged the members of the public to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information.
