Several injured as angry youths attack Hisbah police

Angry youths in the Tandama community of Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State on Friday stormed the state-run Hisbah office to protest its opposition to certain hairstyles worn by them.

Some Hisbah officials had challenged some youths over their hairstyles, leading to the attack wherein some officials of the religious police sustained some injuries.

The police are reportedly investigating the incident and have vowed to bring culprits to justice.

The attack on the religious police stemmed from built-in anger of the people.

A report mentioned the growing frustration of many with the Hisbah officials, who are perceived as being overbearing.

Their actions are believed to be infringing on people’s rights using religious veneer.
