Seven victims rescued, kidnappers flee, illegal weapons recovered in police crackdown
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has rescued some kidnapped victims in Niger State, recovered ammunition in Plateau State, and arrested suspected kidnappers in Taraba State.
In the Niger incident, the assailants abducted seven persons from Tungan-Boka and Masaha villages in Mashegu Local Government Area (LGA) and led them into their hideout located in a forest.
Following the report of the abduction, police and local security teams stormed the forest, overpowered the kidnappers in a gun duel and rescued the victims.
Also, in Plateau, police followed a lead on a murder that took place on May 3 to storm a criminal hideout, along Bauchi Road, in Jos North LGA of the state, recovering an ash-colored Golf Wagon and 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition.
In Taraba, police arrested two suspected kidnappers named Lookman Tanko and Peter Apai from whom different guns were seized.
Weapons recovered from Tanko were one AK-47 rifle, a pump-action shotgun, and a long gun. From Apai, the law enforcement recovered an AK-47 rifle, one pump-action shotgun, and an AK-47 magazine.
