Questions raised after couple celebrating child’s birthday dies in mysterious incident

Questions have been raised over police investigation into the death of a couple celebrating their child’s fourth year birthday at a hotel. Witnesses raised an alarm when they discovered the couple scalded and dead while having a hot bath. They had dropped their child off at a relative’s house before their revelry, which also involved some family friends.

Police investigation stated that the American parents, Jeferson Sagaz and Ana Carolina de Silva, took hard drugs and died of poisoning. A medical examination done on their corpses showed the cause of death to be “the process of heatstroke with intense dehydration, thermal collapse, culminating in organ failure and death.” Toxicology tests revealed very high alcohol levels and traces of cocaine, according to Brazilian news platform, Globo News.

However, the report has enraged Ana’s relatives, who are insisting she was not a drug user and suggested someone might have ingested the drugs into her forcefully.

“It is with deep indignation that we, the family of Ana Carolina de Silva … repudiate the fake news that has been spread,” her family said in a statement.

“Although reports indicate the presence of substances in her blood, we affirm with complete certainty that Ana was not a drug user.”

“Given the inconsistencies, we raise serious concerns about possible forced ingestion or poisoning and demand a rigorous, transparent and impartial investigation.

“We will not allow her story to be tarnished by unjust assumptions,” the statement said.
