One killed in cult-related violence

Some suspected cultists have killed a member of a rival gang in Oko, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The assailants reportedly shot their unnamed victim dead at a spot located a few kilometers from the Federal Polytechnic in the town. The incident happened at about 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Until his murder, the victim operated a relaxation joint opposite where the attack took place.

According to a report, the assailants intercepted the victim’s vehicle before shooting him multiple times at close range.

Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, reacted: “It was a cult-related killing, and following the swift response of the police operatives led by the DPO, one suspect was arrested and is currently undergoing interrogation.”

Ikenga added that the police had deposited the victim’s corpse in the morgue.

“The police are currently conducting investigations and interrogating the suspect,” he said.
