A man, Haruna Ishaq, has been accused of abducting and having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old girl, leading to his infecting her with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV).
Cornet News gathered that the girl usually hawks drinks for her mother at a lorry park. On the fateful day, the minor went to the park for her usual business and came across Ishaq, who took her to his residence.
After the mother had waited for her return but didn’t see her, she set out to search for her.
Ishaq heard about the search for the girl, forcing him to release her after three days of keeping her in his house.
When the minor eventually returned home, she revealed what had happened, leading to Ishaq’s arrest by the police.
During questioning, Ishaq admitted the minor had been with him while also stating that they were lovers. A medical examination done on the girl showed she had contracted HIV.
The incident happened at Oda in Accra, Ghana.
The police subsequently hauled Ishaq before the Akyem Swedru Circuit Court. Ishaq, who had earlier admitted to abducting and defiling the minor recanted and pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
The court granted Ishaq bail of 60, 000 Ghanaian cedis with three sureties. He is to reappear in court on October 23, 2025.
