Four South African women gunned down

South Africa saw tragedies on Monday and Tuesday as assailants gunned down four women in two separate shootings.

Local media report that some assailants, on Monday, shot two women to death, aged 20 and 22 years.

The incident took place in Peerless Park North. Two hours later, police discovered two male corpses, also aged 20 and 22. The killing continued on Tuesday as gunmen shot two more women to death.

South African acting Police Minister, Prof Firoz Cachalia, called for urgent action to combat gangsterism and organised crime.

“The country is under siege by criminals, by gangs. They are the ones who are selling drugs, making a fortune.

By the way, we are not dealing with smallanyana gangs anymore, we are dealing with people who are running big businesses, maybe top officials, which makes it even worse. These people are destroying our communities.”
