Catholic priest kidnapped

Unknown armed men have kidnapped a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Joseph Azubuike, in Ebonyi State. The victim is the parish priest of the St. Charles Parish, Mgbaleze village, Isu community, in the Onicha Local Government Area of the state.

Rev Father Mathew Opoke, the chancellor of the Abakaliki Diocese, confirmed the incident on Tuesday.

According to Opoke, the kidnappers seized the catholic priest who was returning from his evangelical duties. He had almost reached the church when the assailants struck.

Opoke added the kidnappers contacted the Diocese, demanding a ransom payment before releasing the victim.

“He was abducted alongside three other people. The abductors are making financial demands but with your prayers, we are going to have them back unconditionally,” he said.
