H-O-R-R-O-R: 84-year-old man’s head severed from bodyÂ

Ipara town, located in the Remo division of Ogun state, saw the grisly murder of an 84-year-old man on Friday.

David Shodola, 34, and suspected to be mentally ill, had attacked the elderly man and ended up severing his head from his body.

The shocking incident caused a pandemonium in the town, attracting the presence of the law enforcement.

Omotola Odutola, who speaks for the Ogun police command, was reported confirming the incident in a media enquiry.

Odutola explained that the divisional police officer for the area, chief superintendent Bankole Eluyeru quickly drafted operatives to the scene after the news of the horrific murder broke out.

Eluyeru and his men shot Shodola dead and retrieved his weapon.

“The Divisional Police Isara, CSP Bankole Eluyeru, made an attempt to arrest the suspect, but he used the machete on the DPO and his men.

“The police succeeded in neutralising the suspect and the weapon was recovered from him, ” Odutola said.

She also faulted the claim that Shodola was mentally ill, based on police intelligence.
