Buhari vows to appeal Ararume’s reinstatement as NNPCL chairperson

President Muhammadu Buhari says the government would appeal the reinstatement of Ifeanyi Ararume as chairman (board) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) and a N5bn compensation awarded him by a federal court.

Buhari had appointed, and later removed, Ararume as the NNPCL chairperson before replacing him with Margaret Okadigbo in 2021.

But, a federal judge, Iyang Ekwo faulted Buhari’s action which he said was incongruence with the oil industry governing laws.
