Buhari and Tinubu brothers, no one can come between them – Jibrin

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a director at the Federal Housing Authority and former federal lawmaker, has described the bond between President Muhammadu Buhari and Senator Bola Tinubu as that of two “brothers”.

Jibrin is a known promoter of Tinubu’s presidential ambition and had, only some days ago, said the latter had no time for “detractors”.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Jibrin said, “Just leave President Buhari and his brother, loyalist and ally Asiwaju Tinubu. You can’t come between them.

He also added, “You just can’t. Both of them are APC and APC is both of them. They know where they are coming from and they know where they are headed. Nothing but greatfulness to God”

The former lawmaker, who has been known lately to pass out political statements using innuendoes, may just be responding to growing insinuation about the president’s indisposition to Tinubu’s presidential gambit.

Despite, the rumour of disloyalty to Tinubu’s declared intention continues to dog President Buhari.

Buhari himself, at different times, had kindled such beliefs in his statements. In an interview with Arise television last June, President Buhari said, “Nobody is just going to sit in Lagos and tell them what to do. This is what we are arranging.”

Buhari’s unmistakable mentioning of ‘Lagos’ was widely taken to be a metaphor for Tinubu, who holds Lagos as his strongest political base.

Not even the efforts of his media advisers at clarifying that President Buhari was not referring to Tinubu would dissuade the public from believing he was.

Tinubu is known to have contributed greatly to getting Buhari elected in 2015, after the latter’s three failed attempts previously.

The conglomeration of political parties, to which Tinubu was an active driver, succeeded in routing then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, after a 16-year spell in power.

Many watchers are eager to see if Tinubu, being a political enabler, would do for himself what he has done for others.
